Due to a recent research done by UCLA and University of Houston they have found that an immense amount of groundwater has been loss here in central California due to the recent drought we encountered the past year; however, it is leaving us with numerous question on sustainability in the agriculture areas. These researchers have been examining and comparing the groundwater consumption from 2002-2016 including the two droughts during that time lapse from 2007-2009 and 2012-2016 and since California alone is one of the biggest agriculture industries in the whole world, bringing in about 1/3 of fruits and vegetables it is becoming a concern of the water supply. According to another research they acknowledge in their article, is that during the two periods of the time we lost about forty cubic kilometers. On top of that during the drought here in central valley our farmers here were force to use wells contributing to the water depletion to water their thirsty crops they have implemented that season such as almonds, pistachios, and walnuts. And now researchers are hopping to find how much can we recovery after a server droughts. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2017/05/170518104105.htm
