There has been a proposal on creating a superhighway that will strect 162 miles in length with six paved lanes with a six mile buffer on both sides at Nigeria's cross river state. Due to this proposal it will affect the biodiversity such as the communities located there as well the animals. (WCS) or the wildlife conservatives society have encouraged the builder to chose alternatives options opposing the highway to protect all nearby communities, animals , and forest along the border of Cameroon. WCS created a petition against the superhighway collecting about 41,786 petitions since October 14 of 2016. The process of the superhighway has been temporary been stopped because of the petitions that were signed from local communities which has initiate an environmental impact assessment. Even though the highway was stopped it is not permanent the workers can start the construction site at any time. Since the construction work site can begin at any time WCS has teamed up with an award wining forest stewardship organization "Ekuri initiative.
