Back in 2014 we have had an enormous heat wave in the pacific ocean. In when it produces temperature anomalies greatly. Researches from UC Santa Barbra evaluated the sentinel status of the giant kelp forest along the shoreline of Southern California due to climate change. They believed that the kelp would die off since they are sensitive to a dramatic increase as well to the low-nutrient conditions in respond to the rising water temperature. But to their surprise the giant kelp forest was alright. What made them surprised is that kelp does not have the capacity to store the nutrients they need to sustained their growth. These researches have kept records for eons and have taken data. Well with the data they have it shows large positive temperature amounts that were unpredictable. They have even looked in other categories in the changes such as algae, inertebrated and fishes of the giant kelp forest showed no response to the warming event.
